Christophe Urios extends at Clermont despite criticism – Quinze Ovalie

Negotiations between Christophe Urios and the Clermont Auvergne for one three-year extension are coming to an end, and the official announcement is expected in the coming days. However, not everyone seems to view this news favorably.

A petition launched on Change.org calls on Clermont’s leaders to review their position, illustrating the dissatisfaction of some supporters with the club’s current results.

Supporters unhappy with current results

Initiated by a fervent supporter ofASMthe petition openly criticizes the decision to extend Christophe Uriosjudging that he has not succeeded in turning things around since his arrival. The text points out the “erosion and degradation” of the team under his leadership. While the team seems to be in difficulty at the start of the season, the haste of the extension raises questions among some fans.

The creator of the petition does not question Urios’ integrity or past successes, but he believes that his current gaming project is insufficient to justify such a three-year commitment, without having guarantees in terms of results. With only a few dozen signatures to date, this movement nevertheless illustrates a growing unease among some supporters.

A call for caution before extending

The text of the petition calls on the leaders of Clermont to show restraint and wait for real results before granting Urios a new contract.

The supporters behind this approach regret that the team has not returned to its former level, a time when ASM was “a symbol of glory and the beautiful game” in French . They therefore ask management to act to prevent the club from sinking further into a negative spiral.

The extension still on the way

Despite this initiative, the club management seems determined to maintain Christophe Urios at the head of the team for the next three seasons. As reported Rugby Ramathe two parties are close to finalizing their agreement, and formalization is imminent. The question now is whether this decision will succeed in relaunching a project in difficulty or whether it will reinforce criticism from a section of supporters.

This opposition underlines the importance of the results for a club like Clermontwhose expectations are always high. The challenge for Urios will now be to convince on the ground to allay doubts and bring ASM back to its best level.

I grew up in a family where rugby was at all times. I was at the edge of the pitch when beat and joined the elite, I was in the Stade Pierre Antoine facing Gary Whetton when he did his Haka to celebrate the 1993 Brennus and I was always rocked legends of this sport. Now, it is with XV Ovalie that I intend to extend the adventure. #TeamCO
