Lawes in 3rd line, Olding finally at the back: what to remember from the composition of CA Brive for

The CA Brive staff delivered their group of 23 players for the reception in , this Friday at 9 p.m. And in the starting XV, we find some surprises. We take stock.

All week, the CA Brive staff had kept their group under pressure, frequently changing the different possible combinations, particularly at the back. It’s time to take stock of the three things to remember from the lineup to host Biarritz.

1. Courtney Lawes en 3e ligne

Arriving in Brive during the summer after being close to being named European player of the season with Northampton, where he had sparkled in the third row, Courtney Lawes will return to his favorite position of the last four seasons.

Facing Biarritz, the former England international will therefore have the opportunity to fully showcase his love for defensive tasks and his ability to bring continuity to the game.

2. Stuart Olding at full-back

Expected since midweek to return to the center of the field, the Irishman will finally start at the back. A turnaround in the situation which occurred this Thursday morning, before the start, following Thomas Zenon’s delay in training. Initially planned to attack in 15, but ultimately sanctioned by the staff, the former Nivernais will not even be in the group.

3. A new Shvelidze – Rokoduru pair in the center

Direct consequence of Olding’s repositioning, the entry into the starting XV of Timilai Rokoduru. The Fijian, author of average performances for the moment, will have a hard time facing the Biarrots.

He will compose a pair of centers that have never been seen before with Georges Shvelidze who, for his part, has a string of serious matches.
