Cycle lanes in : new developments in sight

The work has undoubtedly not escaped the attention of the regulars of the little queen. The City is seeking to improve the existing structure on three sections and is also working on better connections between the different structures.

Marine Infantry

Along Avenue Infanterie de Marine, in the city center direction towards Mourillon, the cycle path has been blocked since September 23. “In particular, we redo the coatings, explains Luc de Saint-Sernin, roads and traffic assistant. There will be two perfectly distinct parts here. Ocher color for pedestrians and green for bicycles.”

Expected end of construction: end of November.

Gate of Olives

The end dates for the development are also similar, according to the Town Hall, on the Porte des Oliviers side. Here too, the cycle lane and sidewalk are being repaired. Cyclist diversions are in place during the work.

Pont de Suve

It is often a point of tension between cyclists and motorists. It must be said that the intersection is dangerous. The coastal cycle path is at one point cut by the boulevard Enseigne de Vaisseau Gués in the Pont de Suve district.

There too, work is underway. “This is a multiple operation with repairing the waterproofing of the bridge, bringing the sidewalks up to standard and securing the crossing of the track”lists Luc de Saint-Sernin.

What about the Bonaparte roundabout?

While the service station was destroyed and while waiting for the start of the vast construction site on Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny, the City decided to create a cycle path. “The objective being to materialize connections between the different works in the sector: Roosevelt, Tassigny, Marine Infantry and République.” The work should begin in mid-November and last one month.

New hoops

It’s not just the quality of the roads that worries cyclists on a daily basis. Being able to park their bike safely is another of their concerns.
And for this, the municipality has decided to install 34 new hoops within two months, notably Place de l’Équerre, Place Raspail and Rue Corneille. “Secondly, we will install 46 more in the city center. It’s a strong demand that has been communicated to us,” assures the municipal councilor, Albert Tanguy.
