the 16 members of the opposition resign from the FFR Steering Committee

INFO FIGARO – These elected officials, Patrick Buisson and Guilhem Guirado in the lead, no longer want to be associated with a policy that is dangerous for the institution. The election for the presidency will be held in less than three weeks.

19 days before the election to the presidency of the FFR – Saturday October 19 – the 16 members of the Steering Committee sent a letter, which Le Figaro obtained, to the candidate for his re-election, Florian Grill, for the inform of their collective resignation. Among them, Patrick Buisson, candidate for the Laporte team defeated in June 2023, and Guilhem Guirado, running mate of Didier Codorniou, future opponent of the outgoing president.

In this letter, they justify their decision by two events. First of all, the procedure recently initiated by the FFR against Le Coq Sportif. “We warned you by letter that if you did not withdraw the judicial liquidation order against our former equipment partner, the company Le Coq Sportif, we would resign. Not only did you not withdraw the said subpoena but you further justified your position with a 3-page letter and media statements. This unreasonable stubbornness firstly resulted in the FFR being dismissed by the Commercial Court and exposed to a complaint for abusive procedure filed by Le Coq Sportif with a request for compensation of €50,000. »

Florian Grill allegedly hid from them a tragedy that occurred during a rugby camp

For resigning members this “blindly” East “the illustration of contempt towards the members of the Steering Committee”. “Since your accession to the presidency of the FFR, this behavior is in total contradiction with the speeches of openness, unity and appeasement that you have delivered throughout your long political campaign.”

The letter mentions a second, more dramatic reason. “We learned by chance in recent days that a tragedy had struck one of our children without our knowledge. Indeed, a member of the SIGAVE Club on the Island of Futuna, Jessop aged 13, drowned during a rugby training course on May 22, 2024. More than four months later the information reached us through a personal channel regretting the lack of support for the family and the club from the FFR!”

The resigning members of the opposition claim that Florian Grill became aware of this tragedy in the hours that followed it without ever informing the FFR Steering Committee. “as if the death of one of our children was not our responsibility”. “We are shocked by this lack of foresight questioning your ability to preside over our institution. We are also deeply sorry that we were unable to show the slightest empathy to Jessop’s family and loved ones. We regret not knowing anything about the circumstances of the death of this young child as part of an activity organized under the responsibility of our institution.”

And to conclude: “we resign to no longer be associated with a dangerous policy for the institution and its licensees seemingly driven by a compulsive need for communication.”
