Pro D2 – and Brive are doing well, Soyaux-Angoulême confirms… Our predictions for the 4th day

This weekend is the fourth day of Pro D2. At home for the occasion, Brive and could well pocket five points while SAXV will seek to confirm its good form. Here are our predictions for this fourth episode.

A few months ago, these two teams faced off for a spot in the semi-finals. This time, it’s a “simple” regular season encounter but it’s terribly exciting. For two things.

The first? FCG must react after the heavy defeat suffered on the pitch last Friday. The second? Dax is leading the way at the Stade des Alpes with three wins in as many outings since the start of the championship.

This duel promises to be tough and disputed, even if the Grenoble character could well make the difference.

Our prediction: Grenoble wins.

The galleys seem far away from USM for the moment. After having worked hard until the last second to ensure their survival in the second division, the Montalbanais have made a convincing start with in particular a bonus victory against Mont-de-Marsan and a defensive bonus brought back from Aix-en-Provence.

The Tarn-et-Garonnais will have a lot to do in their new Sapiac against the BO, but they have what it takes to win against the still undefeated Basques. After having knocked out Oyonnax last week, Biarritz is taking on another tough opponent. Enough to make it 4 out of 4? Not sure.

Our prediction: Montauban victory.

Brive – Aurillac

Having won big against Grenoble on the last day, the Aurillacois travel to Corrèze without any pressure. Opposite, the CAB narrowly lost to in a match where several key players were resting.

The Brive players should line up their best team in front of their home crowd, and could well do a lot of damage. Favorites for promotion to the Top 14 at the end of the season, Pierre-Henru Broncan’s men are currently assuming their status and impressing with their physical density. The Cantaliens know what to expect…

Our prediction: bonus success for Brive.

-Romans

Here are two teams that are not really on the same dynamic. On one side, we find Columérins who are pleasant to watch play, who came close to winning in Dax and who already have two victories.

On the other hand, the Drômois who have still not won this season and who have especially lost twice at home. The last defeat was against Béziers. Time is running out for the VRDR, but it is not really easy to have to get going again on the pitch at the Michel-Bendichou stadium. The task looks complicated, especially against the Haut-Garonnais who want to stay warm at the top of the table.

Our prediction: Colomiers victory.

Oyonnax –

On paper, this match is the most unbalanced of the season. The team that comes down from the Top 14 receives the one that goes up from the National. Two worlds will clash in Ain and it is difficult to see the Azuréens hanging on to Oyonnaxiens who need points after two defeats in Brive and Biarritz.

Even though Nice have signed their only win of the season away to , this trip risks being complicated to negotiate. The beauty of sport means that exploits are always possible, so watch out for the trap for “Oyo”.

Our prediction: victory with the offensive bonus from Oyonnax.

Soyaux-Angouleme – Mont-de-Marsan

The best attack in Pro D2, SAXV proves week after week that they will have to be counted on in the race for the top 6. With Botica, May and Tilsley behind them, the Angoumoisins scare everyone.

This Friday, they meet Chanzy with the desire to sign their first success of the season at home. The Montois are looking for their first victory in this 2024/2025 exercise. After a failed start, the Landais want to raise their heads.

Our prediction: victory for Soyaux-Angoulême.

Agen – Nevers

The start of a great story for Agen? After being worrying against Nice two weeks ago, the Lot-et-Garonnais were a pleasure to watch on the Montois pitch during their last outing. Thanks to a youth without complexes, Sébastien Calvet’s men have started their championship and have the opportunity to confirm at home against one of the big fish in the division.

Nevers also won their first game last Thursday against Brive, and want to continue. There will inevitably be someone disappointed at the final whistle…

Our prediction: Agen wins, defensive bonus for Nevers.

– Provence Rugby

Here is the shock of this fourth day! Two contenders for the last four of this Pro D2, two teams not yet at the rugby point: this duel is worth watching. On alternating current since the kick-off of the marathon that is the second division, Biterrois and Provençaux want to bang their fists on the table.

Beaten on their home turf by BO, the Héraultais do not want to give in a second time in front of their supporters. After going to Grenoble, the Aixois are piling up perilous trips but have the talent to pull off a big coup. It looks set to be tight until the end.

Our prediction: victory for Béziers, defensive bonus for Provence Rugby.
