Top 14 – Rob Simmons (Clermont) out for three months following a biceps injury

Rob Simmons injured his biceps during the warm-up for the match between Clermont and Racing 92. The Australian second row will undergo surgery this Thursday and will be out for three months.

Second major blow for Clermont. After losing Lucas Dessaigne (cruciate ligament rupture) for at least six months, the Clermont staff must this week deplore three months of absence for Rob Simmons. The Australian second row was injured during the warm-up of the Racing 92 – Clermont match, lost 33-20 by the Jaunards. Injured following a harmless maul, the Clermont tower had been hastily replaced by Peceli Yato. This Tuesday, at the end of the traditional training session open to the public, Christophe Urios announced that the former London Irish player would undergo surgery this Thursday, September 19.

No medical joker considered

A major absence for ASM as Simmons’ profile is of capital importance in ASM’s forward play. To compensate for this absence, Thibaud Lanen, Thomas Ceyte and Oskar Rixen will be more in demand. A medical joker should not arrive in Auvergne since Anthime Hemery, Peceli Yato and Marcos Kremer (currently in the Championship) are capable of playing in goal.
