With the arrival of Argentinian international Julian Montoya and the commitment of Lucas Rey until 2027, the horizon was blocked for Ruffenach, knowing that Youri Delhommel – whose lease also expires in June – overtakes him in the hierarchy. Former U20 international, under the orders of Sébastien Piqueronies, Romain Ruffenach suffered a serious knee injury in 2021. A year later, flattered and surprised by the call from his former youth coach, he arrived in Pau.

Used on the margins during his first season in Vert et Blanc (7 Top 14 matches), the former Biarrot and player has since gained momentum, with 11 matches in 2023-2024, a total already equaled this season in the championship (with 30 minutes of additional play). This summer, he will therefore take charge of , a solid Pro D2 team, perhaps future promotion to the Top 14.

Other players at the end of their contract

Several players, particularly up front, will be at the end of their contract this summer: pillars Harry Williams, Siate Tokolahi, Hugo Parrou, Nacho Calles and Rémi Seneca, hooker Youri Delhommel, 2nd or 3rd lines Thibaut Hamonou and Lekima Tagitagivalu as well as the center Eliott Roudil.
