Representing your country is something special. Doing it for the first time is something you will remember for a very long time. Georgia has brought in some new blood since the World Cup and before returning to action in February, they have one last match to play in November.
This November tour is complicated for Georgia which is looking for its first victory this fall. It would be good to end this tour with a victory and thus move into 2025 with the Rugby Europe Championship starting in February.
Georges Shvelidze is a substitute with Georgia to play against Tonga. Kick-off Sunday at 3 p.m. (French time).
Georges Shvelidze will normally experience his first international selection. If he has experienced the joys of representing his country in the U20 category, this has not yet been the case at the highest level. Having had a good end to the season with Brive, this allowed him to approach the selection during the summer tour. Establishing himself as second center, Shvelidze was called up for this fall tour but was not in the group for the first two meetings.
In Montpellier, Georgia lost to the All Blacks XV with a score of 31 to 13. Against Italy, Georgia had a big first period, leading 17-6 at the break. But the Georgians suffered too much in the second half, breaking down on the hour mark by conceding two tries. There was no longer enough energy to turn the situation around at the end of the match. Italy wins 20-17. On the Tonga side, there too, there are two defeats on the clock: first against Romania (25-15) then against the United States (36-17).
