World Rugby should delay the adoption of the red card rule by twenty minutes

Meeting today in Dublin, the World Rules Committee plans to suspend, until May 2025, the new rule on twenty-minute red cards. This decision will be submitted to a vote by the World Rugby Council on Thursday, after which the new president of the international body will be elected. According to a source close to the leaders, this postponement has a strong chance of being validated because this rule, applied this summer during the U20 World Championships, has only been tested for two weeks with senior international teams.
