Today, Katy Perry says: “I’m not attracted to narcissists anymore.” The singer pays close attention to her feelings when she meets a new person, and she no longer accepts certain behaviors.
“Anyone who is constantly changing their goal, or pulling the rug out from under you emotionally, is a no,” she says. “Same goes for anyone who says they know you better than you know yourself. Someone who just won’t help.”
The singer believes that there is nothing more exciting than someone who carries their share of the mental load. “If I come downstairs and the kitchen is clean, you’ve done the dishes, the cupboard doors are closed… Unzip your fly,” she comments with humor. “No need to buy me a Ferrari, I can do that by myself. On the other hand, do the dishes, and you speak my love language.”
Katy Perry’s Complicated Relationships
In this episode of the podcast, Katy Perry didn’t want to single out any of her exes in particular, but she did have a past relationship with John Mayer, whom she reportedly left due to the producer’s infidelity. She was also married to English actor Russell Brand, and reportedly divorced 14 months after their union.
At the time, the two artists had spoken of “irreconcilable differences.” On the Australian show “60 Minutes,” the British actor finally spoke out, saying: “Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But if you feel a certain incompatibility, in any relationship and whatever the status of each one, it is better to go our separate ways.”
However, in a 2013 interview with Vogue magazine, Katy Perry said: “At first, when I met him, he wanted someone who was his equal and I think a lot of times, strong men want an equal, but then when they get him, they can’t handle him. He didn’t like the vibe when I was the boss on the tour. So it was very hurtful, it was very controlling and disturbing.” Her ex-husband has since also been accused of rape and sexual assault by several women.
