17,000 owners benefit from “temporary oblivion”

Receiving the property tax is rarely good news for owners. Especially since this year, it will increase again, and for everyone, even if most municipalities did not vote for a new increase in the spring. However, rental values ​​have been revalued and they serve as a tax base at the national level. Result: at the national level, the increase will automatically be 3.9%. However, as Ouest-France reports, more than 17,000 owners in Deux-Sèvres have had the pleasure of discovering their property tax notice reduced.

In total, owners of 24 towns and villages in the Thouarsais Community of Communes have noticed this drop, like one of them who must pay 1,013 euros this year, compared to 1,184 euros in 2023. But this is actually an incomplete property tax notice. The document is missing the Household Waste Removal Tax (TEOMi), which is generally around 200 euros. Moreover, in the dedicated column, owners can find the mention “-100%”.

Why such an “oversight”? According to Ouest-France, it was a “hiccup” between the inter-municipal and public finance departments. These departments very quickly realized their blunder and will rectify the situation. Thus, the 17,000 owners concerned will receive a new corrective document in November.
