Her husband, the main accused in this case, Dominique Pelicot, has been on trial since September 2 before the Criminal Court of Vaucluse, in Avignon. Oh yes, I’ll take advantage of it to show my full support for Gisèle Pelicot, so courageous and so dignified. Infinite respect, Madam,” he wrote.
A message that goes down badly
The post did not go down well with many Internet users, and even caused outrage. One person spoke of“disrespect towards Dominique Pelicot’s victims to take advantage of a position to advertise himself in half-words”. Another calls the tweet a“extremely embarrassing.” “Wasn’t there a more sober tweet to support this woman?” she adds. For others, it is a useless controversy. “It’s clumsy (…) but you don’t have to be super intelligent to know that it wasn’t malicious on his part.”says one internet user.
The Mazan rape trial is still suspended this Sunday, while Dominique Pelicot has been repeatedly excused from attending the hearing by the president Roger Arata, due to health concerns.
