According to a study, these foods increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases

Today, more than 1,400 French companies and brands have committed to implementing theNutri-Score on some of their products. This logo, well known to consumers, is displayed in the form of a scale of five colors and five letters.

At a glance, it is then possible to have information on the nutritional quality of products. For this, it is divided into several categories: from A-dark green (higher nutritional quality) to E-dark orange (lower nutritional quality).

An increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases

In Western Europe, cardiovascular diseases represent the leading cause of death. This Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Lancet Regional Health-Europe publishes a study conducted by researchers from the Nutritional Epidemiology Research Team (CRESS-EREN), a joint team from Inserm, INRAE, Cnam, Sorbonne Paris Nord University and Paris Cité University, in collaboration with researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO-IARC).

Everyone has noticed that there is an increased risk of cardiovascular disease associated with the consumption of foods ranked lower on the Nutri-Score scale (in its new 2024 version). To reach this conclusion, the team took into account data from 345,533 people, spread across seven European countries and followed for 12 years.
