Rains, floods… In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, a road collapses, orange alert for eight departments

Météo France Météo France has placed the Pyrénées-Atlantiques on orange alert for floods. Seven other departments in the South are on orange alert for rain, floods, storms, or floods.

In Etsaut, a village square “destroyed”

Météo-France reported that “accumulations greater than 100 mm on the high chain” from the Hautes-Pyrénées, with “170 mm for example in Gavarnie”.

In addition, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Corrèze and Dordogne are on orange alert for rain and flooding until at least 3 p.m. Drome and Ardèche are on orange alert for storm risks.

In the rest of France, an active line of storms will cross eastern Occitanie in the afternoon, towards Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Hauts-de-France. It will give fairly brief but intense rains, sometimes accompanied by hail and gusts of wind.
