Settling of scores – The leader of the ultras of the “northern Milan bend” must be heard by the prosecutor this Wednesday evening

Andrea Beretta will not be in the visiting stand at the Monza stadium on Sunday to support Inter Milan. The leader of Marcus Thuram’s team’s ultras fatally stabbed another supporter of the Italian football club and member of the Calabrian mafia on Wednesday, his lawyer and media reported. Beretta, 49, leader of the ultras of the “northern Milan bend”, explained that he stabbed Antonio Bellocco, 36, after the latter had shot him with a firearm, wounding him in the leg.

Hospitalized, Andrea Beretta is to be questioned this Wednesday evening by a prosecutor, his lawyer, Mirko Perlino, told AFP. The events occurred Wednesday morning near a gym in Cernusco sul Naviglio, a town in the Milan metropolitan area, when the two men had an altercation on board a vehicle.

Self-defense or not?

“I had no choice, I defended myself,” Andrea Beretta told his lawyer by phone, the latter told AFP. He allegedly stabbed the victim in the throat once or twice. Convicted multiple times for violence and drug trafficking, he succeeded the historic leader of the Inter ultras, Vittorio Boiocchi, who was assassinated in October 2022, according to the press.
