The announcement of Mahsa Amini’s death on September 16, 2022, three days after she was arrested by the morality police, marked the beginning of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement. More than 500 protesters were killed during these protests, tens of thousands of people were arrested. Some of the protesters were even sentenced to death by Iran’s revolutionary courts. Two years later, the Iranian regime continues to threaten the population, which although tested, does not admit defeat.

« I feel nothing but hatred towards this regime “, Mohammad* says without hesitation. For this young man of almost 18, two years ago, the regime reached a point of no return: ” On the street, among the people who were killed, there were our friends, our childhood buddies and acquaintances. The scenes we saw during that period are irreparable. ” he adds. Vali, 19, also remembers. ” The message was: “If you participate in the riots, we will shoot and kill you.” […] It was a very bitter revolution, they were very hard and very sad days. ” he explains.

According to the latest rapport de l’ONG Iran Human Rights As of April 2023, approximately 537 protesters have been killed by security forces during the protests two years ago. Even today, some of the arrested protesters face the death penalty for daring to protest the regime. So, to show their opposition to those who govern them and their archaic ideology, the population is using the only weapons they have left: civil disobedience and boycott.
