Ebou Adams signs the miss of the year with Derby County in the Championship

The English have no qualms about making fun of the quality of the French championship. It is good, sometimes, to return the favor. It was at home that we witnessed, this Saturday, September 14, the failure of the season. It is the work of a certain Ebou Adams. The 28-year-old Gambian midfielder plays for Derby County, with whom he faced Cardiff on the Pride Park pitch.

With just a few minutes left to play, the Rams are leading 1-0 against the Welsh. The latter throw all their forces into the battle and bring most of their players forward on a final corner.

The corner kick is not particularly well executed. It is headed off the ball and falls back to the feet of a Derby County player, who makes no mistake and clears it with a high ball.

Derby County take victory despite everything

Ebou Adams smells the right move and starts his run. Towards the center circle, Manolis Siopis sees his goalkeeper Jak Alnwick come out and decides not to intervene. But the Englishman loses his duel against the Derby County midfielder, ex-Cardiff player.

Ebou Adams runs towards goal to the roar of the Pride Park crowd, ready to cheer. But nothing goes as planned. As Manolis Siopis closes in, the Gambian arrives in the box and executes a shot from the inside of his left foot at ground level. It is completely missed and ends up far from the goal deserted by Jak Alnwick. “A FANTASTIC miss!”, the official Championship account is astonished.

Disbelief grips the crowd. With both hands behind their heads, the Derby County supporters do not understand what they have just witnessed. Ebou Adams, for his part, has his nose in the pitch. He tries to catch his breath and his wits.

Fortunately for him, this miss will have no consequences for the Rams. The match ends with a score of 1-0 and it is indeed Derby County who pocket the three points. The club moves back to eighth place in the Championship, three points behind Sunderland, the leader. Ebou Adams can breathe.
