0-0. No goals on the night of the goalkeepers – Football from Mallorca

I have the feeling that Leo Román’s place in the starting line-up was due to the need to keep him motivated to avoid any last-minute surprises in the remainder of the transfer window, but whatever the reason why Arrasate decided to put him in the starting line-up, it was a godsend. The Ibizan has avoided a real debacle in the first half and has shown, in case anyone had any doubts, that the goal is without a doubt the best-protected position in the team.

The Norwegian Nyland was not short on goal either. He did not intervene much, but his was without a doubt the most decisive save of the night, a one-on-one save against Muriqi in the six-yard box in the 65th minute that under normal conditions should have been 1-0. It was without a doubt the night of the goalkeepers.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of other positions. The players who should be key are still missing and that is a tragedy. Larin’s situation is crying out to heaven and there are few arguments to defend it. Luckily, Darder has improved exponentially compared to last year, but I still miss the ability to get into the opposition’s box that he so often showed at Espanyol.

After a first half in which Sevilla had four dangerous shots but, above all, they outplayed Mallorca on the wings, especially through the Nigerian Ejuke, and a similar start to the second half, with an incredible chance missed by Sow, Arrasate’s team managed to shake off the rival dominance and created two very clear chances, the aforementioned one from Muriqi and a shot high off the goal line from Samú Costa. For a quarter of an hour it seemed that they could make it 1-0, but Sevilla defended well and then got another chance with a shot wide from Isaac.

The night ended with an acceptable result, especially in the first half, and with some great news, Marc Doménech’s debut in the First Division. He could have scored in the 93rd minute, but he did not hit the ball in the six-yard box.
