Loss of competitive international players confuses new Lions roster

We begin our tour of Tuesday’s press platform with the daily “Al Ahdath Al Maghribia”, which reported that Moroccan international players are confusing the new “Atlas Lions” list due to their absence from competition for some time, before the national coach Walid Regragui holds a press conference next Thursday to reveal the names he has decided to invite to join the first football team.

The newspaper added that the situation concerns captain Romain Saiss and players Yahya Attiat Allah, Nayef Aguerd and Ismail Saibari, as they still lack the competitiveness that qualifies them to be in Regragui’s notebook for the start of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations finals “Morocco 2025”.

The same newspaper mentioned that a Palestinian had insulted Moroccan officials in the heart of Tangier. The person called “Lafi Khalil” was the beneficiary of an invitation issued by the Justice and Charity group.

This Palestinian, according to the same newspaper, who introduced himself as “a Jerusalemite residing in Berlin,” stood in a large square in the center of the city of the Strait to describe Moroccan officials as “normalizers who engage in behaviors less than animalistic by hosting Israeli officials or artists,” while the organizers gathered around him to chant “Allahu Akbar” and urge the crowd to do the same.

Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribia said that the person in question, who is unknown, was summoned to the solidarity stand with Palestine in the city of Tangier and allowed to insult Moroccan officials without any of his hosts intervening to dissuade him from doing so, or to stop him from directing his venom towards Morocco and Moroccans.

The same daily added that “the Justice and Charity group has become accustomed to these shameful behaviors that are outside the Moroccan consensus on several occasions that can be documented with sound and image.”

Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribia also reported that the recent rains revived the dams’ water levels within two days, as the water imports increased by 1% within these facilities, bringing the filling rate to 38%, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.

The same media platform also paid attention to the call of the Independent National Coordination of Distinguished Teachers in Morocco for the necessity of issuing a new basic system for this category, coinciding with the approach of the school year for the 2024-2025 season, considering the step capable of solving a group of current problems, most notably the transitional movement.

The distinguished professors hold the teaching unions responsible for the fragile situation in which they work, demanding that the matter be addressed in the remaining decrees and decisions complementing the new basic system in order to do them justice, calling for enabling them to work 12 hours a week, and that any additional voluntary hours above that should be considered with attractive incentives, and responding to a file of demands that includes a certificate of excellence and access to a doctorate, among other points.

As for the newspaper “Bayan Al-Youm”, it stated that the Moroccan courts will be out of service for 6 days, as they will witness a national strike that will also paralyze the judicial centers, sub-directorates, preservation centers and archives, based on a call for protest issued by the National Union of the Justice Sector. The strike includes two stages of 3 days each; the first begins on August 27, and the second opens on September 10.

In other news, Bayane Al-Youm wrote that Morocco has achieved a new record in blueberry exports, despite the significant effects of severe drought. This is 67,300 tons of this fruit during the 2023-2024 season, which means an increase of 25% compared to the previous season’s harvest.

The same newspaper also wrote that the Ministry of Interior declared war on stray dogs, through efforts aimed at strengthening public services related to prevention and public health, while supporting local communities with a budget of nearly 70 million dirhams over five years to purchase logistics to deal with what preserves the safety of residents and respects the rights of animals.

Coinciding with the increase in monkeypox infections and deaths in a number of countries around the world, Al Alam newspaper contacted Tayeb Hamdi, a doctor and health policy researcher, who confirmed to it that Morocco has not yet announced the registration of any case, and that the national health system is closely monitoring the situation.

Hamdi added that Morocco is working on preparing laboratories specialized in monkeypox, which is transmitted in different ways between adults and children, without any relation to the new Corona virus, which requires a way to contain it to avoid developing into a health condition similar to “AIDS.”

Al-Alam also addressed the deteriorating human rights situation due to the practices of the Algerian regime, stressing that the “El Mouradia Palace”, which claims to defend continental issues, is persecuting African citizens of various nationalities. Its latest shameful practice was its deportation of 2,000 illegal immigrants to the Niger desert in just 10 days, after abusing them.

In another news item, Al-Alam said that the soft drink product “Kola Gaza” has succeeded in finding a foothold in European markets and competing with famous brands due to the boycott campaigns that support the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians and the companies that support the Zionists in exterminating the people of the Gaza Strip. It was preceded by the launch of a similar product called “Palestine Cola” whose marketing extended from Sweden to South Africa, passing through the United Kingdom and countries in the European Union.
