Paralympic Games 2024.. Moroccan athletes determined to achieve the best results – Kech24: Morocco News – Kech24: Moroccan electronic newspaper

The National Technical Director of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities, Said Al-Marini, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Moroccan athletes are in high spirits and are determined to achieve the best results during the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris (August 28-September 8).

He pointed out, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, that the Moroccan sports delegation joined the Olympic Village last Wednesday, where they are staying in good conditions before starting training according to a program drawn up by the technical committee, whether for athletes with disabilities or the blind and visually impaired, in preparation for the actual start of the competitions next Thursday.

Al-Marini said that the medical team accompanying the Moroccan sports delegation also began its work inside the Olympic Village, where a space was allocated to conduct periodic examinations of the athletes, monitor their health status, and supervise their nutritional program.

On the other hand, the National Technical Director appreciated the efforts made by the accompanying administrative committee to provide training supplies and equipment and designated stadiums in coordination with the organizing committee, in addition to the means of transportation linking the Olympic Village and the sports facilities.

He stated that preparations for this global event went well, both inside and outside Morocco, thanks to the capabilities provided by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports to the universities concerned, in order to enable them to prepare their champions in appropriate conditions.

It is noteworthy that Morocco is participating in the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 with a delegation of 38 male and female athletes (24 males and 14 females) who will compete in the competitions of five-a-side football for the blind, para-taekwondo, cycling, tennis, powerlifting, athletics for people with disabilities, and athletics for the blind and visually impaired.

Morocco has won 38 medals during its participation in the Paralympic Games, since its launch in 1988 in Seoul, 16 of which were gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze.

Athletics monopolized the majority of medals, winning 34 medals, while swimming (Seoul 1988), triathlon (Rio 2016), powerlifting (London 2012), and blind futsal (Tokyo 2020) were satisfied with bronze medals.
