There is still something baroque, after legislative elections largely lost by his camp, to appoint as Prime Minister the representative of a party that gathered even fewer voters during this election. Without returning here to the very long sequence of procrastination of Emmanuel Macron, who faced, it is true, political forces less constructive than one could have hoped but who himself demonstrated perversity by multiplying trial balloons in public, the feeling of a “all that for that” predominates. LR Michel Barnier, 73 years old, will therefore make his entry into Matignon, becoming the oldest head of government of the Fifth Republic, succeeding the one who was the youngest, Gabriel Attal.
