Grandstands, facilities… GL Events big winner of the Olympic Games

On BFM Business, its president Olivier Ginon congratulates himself on a business volume of 360 million euros for his company.

GL Events is rubbing its hands. The events specialist, which has notably provided temporary stands, electrified sites and even fitted out the Palace of Versailles for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, has seen its revenues explode.

On BFM Business, its president Olivier Ginon is pleased with “a volume of activity of 360 million euros on the Olympic Games with a contribution to local subcontracting of more than 170 million. The Olympic Games have pulled us up”.

Dismountable and reusable equipment

“We have employed 90% of French companies as subcontractors, we have brought a large part of the sector on board with us, we are very proud of that,” he continues.

Olivier Ginon also highlights the sustainable approach of the equipment deployed: “our group has been working for many years on the fact that we have to assemble and disassemble assets, conserve them, send them to other events and will be reused for the next ten or twenty years”.

GL Events has definitively turned the dark page of the Covid years (with results halved) and achieved a turnover of 820.6 million euros over the first six months of 2024, up 19%, and recorded a net profit of 45 million (+11%).

Next challenge: selling this expertise to the organizers of the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the United States, “we will do our utmost to be present because the market will be very important,” emphasizes Olivier Ginon.
