Valérie Pécresse wants to make a 50-hectare site available for a possible new stadium

The president of the Île-de-France region wants to anticipate a possible move of the Parisian club from the Parc des Princes.

Paris SG, which still wants to become the owner of its stadium, is still considering leaving the Parc des Princes for a new stadium whose location has still not been revealed. Faced with the inflexibility of the Paris city hall, which still does not want to sell the historic stadium at Porte d’Auteuil, the possibility of moving is gaining momentum.

Valérie Pécresse brought a little more credibility to the project by announcing this Tuesday on BFM Paris Île-de-France that a plot of land could soon be made available to the club. The president of the Île-de-France region initially estimated “as a supporter» that the place of PSG “was at the Parc des Princes” before explaining that the region would give a helping hand to the French champions.

“the club [lui] requested, during the public inquiry, to reserve, in the development plan for Île-de-France, which authorizes major infrastructures in Île-de-France, 50 hectares for a possible move of PSG outside of Paris”added the elected official, confirming that she had responded positively to the Qataris’ request.

Le Parisien specifies that the elected representatives of the Île de France region will vote on September 11 on a motion providing for the availability of spaces for major sports projects, among which is a site that could accommodate a new stadium. “If it (the club, editor’s note) is chased out of Paris, obviously, we will welcome it elsewhere, in Île-de-France”; specified Valérie Pécresse.
