Hostage Families Forum Denounces Hamas Video

A video of Eden Yeroushalmi, a hostage in Gaza before she was killed by Hamas and her body was brought back to Israel, was published by the terrorist movement on Monday.

The Hostage Families Forum has denounced the content of a Hamas video showing a hostage in Gaza, when she was still alive, after her body was brought back to Israel, calling it “psychological terror”. Released on Monday by Hamas, this “shocking video” falls under the “psychological terror”said in a statement released Monday evening the association representing the majority of the families of hostages taken to the Gaza Strip on the day of the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israeli soil on October 7.

The family of the young woman, Eden Yeroushalmi, announced in this statement that they authorized the broadcast of an excerpt of the video, about ten seconds long, in which Eden Yeroushalmi addresses her relatives. Two videos were published by the terrorist movement, showing six Israeli hostages whose remains were later brought back to Israel.

These videos have received very little coverage in the Israeli media and on social networks, with many people expressing their anger and sadness at these images, which are often presented as elements of “propaganda”.

Shot in the back of the head

Eden Yeroushalmi, 24, was kidnapped at the Nova techno music festival and survived more than 300 days in captivity, according to Israeli authorities, who believe she was killed last Thursday or Friday, along with five other hostages. The Israeli military announced Sunday that it had recovered their remains in the southern Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday night that they had been found dead in a tunnel and had been “executed” by Hamas of a “bullet in the neck”.

Responding to their daughter’s latest message, telling them in the video that she loves them, Eden Yeroushalmi’s family wrote in the statement: “Our Eden, we love you too and miss you madly. You will always be in our hearts”. During the Hamas attack on October 7 in southern Israel, 251 people were abducted and taken to the Gaza Strip. Of these, 97 are still being held there, including 33 who have been declared dead by the Israeli army.
