Activities related to criminal groups | Arrest of a man who held two gunshot rifles in Quebec

A 19-year-old young man was arrested in Quebec following a search on Friday afternoon. In his possession, among others: two gunshot rifles, a handgun and cocaine.

The search, which was able to take place thanks to the information held by the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), took place in the Charlesbourg sector. It is linked to the violence between criminalized groups, the SPVQ said in a statement released on Saturday before.

“Upon arrival of the police, a suspect fled by the balcony where he was quickly arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of narcotics to make the traffic of it,” the authorities said.

The two gunshot rifles and the handgun were provided with a prohibited charger. The SPVQ also searched approximately 200 grams of cocaine, 60 grams of MDMA, a smoke bomb, $ 5,000 in silver and cellular. Articles in order to make drug trafficking, such as scales and sachets, have also been seized.

The operation required the intervention of the SPVQ, of the National Squad on the repression of organized crime (ENRCO) and the tactical intervention group (GTI).

The suspect will appear on Saturday, by videoconference.
