In its 2024 annual report, Plan International Canada

TORONTO, Jan. 23, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As conflict, economic instability and climate crises intensify around the world, Plan International Canada continues its mission to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. Our 2024 annual report, Equality propels usshows how investing in equality for girls leads to transformative change for all. The report, released today, details how our work reached 7 million people in 2024, including 3.1 million children (1.6 million girls), through innovative programs that opened up opportunities for girls while supporting entire communities.

“Equality is not only our goal; it is the common thread leading to transformative change,” says Lindsay Glassco, President and CEO of Plan International Canada. “Research shows that when we invest in education and creating opportunities for girls, they earn higher incomes, provide for their families and create more stable communities, eliminating poverty for entire generations. Investing in girls is not only the right thing to do, it is smart economics and effective development that results in a safer, more stable and more prosperous world for all. »

The report highlights several notable achievements in fiscal year 2024:

  • Climate champions: Beauty and Eucabeth are featured on the cover. As members of their school’s Environmental 4-K Club in Kenya, they are learning to adapt to climate change and grow food for their community.

  • Increased humanitarian response: Plan Canada reached 156% more people than last year with its humanitarian interventions in 2024, providing $50 million in emergency assistance to 2.4 million people, including 645,000 girls, in 17 countries.
  • Donations directly supporting programs: Despite rising costs and soaring global inflation, we have maintained our commitment to rigorous financial stewardship, ensuring that 83 cents of every dollar collected are directly allocated to proven programs sparking significant changes for 3.1 million children and their communities.

Plan International Canada’s impact has focused on five key areas:

“None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our donors, partners and advocates – and the determination of the children and girls we work for and alongside – who firmly believe change is possible.” , says Ms. Glassco. “It is this collective momentum and shared commitment that creates lasting change for children, families and communities around the world.”
