(Keystone-ATS) The indicator which summarizes the business climate, calculated from the responses of business leaders in the main market sectors, stood at 95 compared to 94 in December, a slight increase of one point.
It is stable in services, construction and retail trade but is deteriorating in industry and wholesale trade, indicates the National Institute of Statistics.
For construction, “the opinion of business leaders on their future activity is improving, but they are very pessimistic about the overall evolution of activity in the sector,” notes INSEE.
-In industry, the indicator which summarizes the business climate is down to 95 points, and business leaders are more pessimistic about order books.
In wholesale trade, the business climate indicator reached 91, its lowest level since September 2014, specifies INSEE, excluding the Covid period.
Causes of this sluggishness, deliveries received from abroad and past sales.
The employment climate also remains stable in January. The indicator rebounded slightly to 98, one point more than in December when it fell by two points.
