CH: Chris Nilan can’t believe it

What the Montreal Canadiens are accomplishing is a taste of what’s to come in the future for the organization.

Since mid-December, this team has been unrecognizable, even though it has held its own and beaten top-ranked teams, and this is no coincidence. Several have mentioned the possibility that it was a flash in the pan or just a lucky streak, of course, but obviously, it is quite the opposite.

In fact, Montreal has maintained a 13-3-1 record since December 17, and the club is currently in the playoffs at the time of writing.

The CH plays with confidence, structure and commitment, so the results speak for themselves on the ice surface, as well as on the scoresheet. Goalkeepers Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes also do the job, which is not to be neglected either.

The return of Patrik Laine and the arrival of Alexandre Carrier clearly made all the difference. The team finally achieved success, which literally gave hope to the supporters.

Moreover, the former strong man of the Habs, Chris Nilan, simply cannot believe how there has been a radical change in the way he observes the matches of our glorious players.

“The matches have become fun to watch,” says good old “Knuckles.”

At the start of the season, when things weren’t going well, I stopped following the game on television to do something else. I expected them to lose. Suzuki and the players his age looked like a bunch of kids playing in the street. Now they look like real professionals.

The situation has changed completely. Since they started to turn around, I expect them to win every game. The team has made great strides. » – Chris Nilan

Nilan also adds that the work of Martin St-Louis, the head coach, should also be highlighted, he who gave wings to Joel Armia and Josh Anderson, two former players unloved by fans. The two veterans are currently in a good seat, they who have a role to their size on a “bottom 6”, in addition to performing in numerical inferiority.

“Martin St-Louis is doing an incredible job, whose skills were questioned not so long ago. He is an excellent teacher. He helped veterans like Joel Armia and Josh Anderson find an identity. » – Chris Nilan

With his 52 points accumulated in 47 games, the Montreal Canadiens are only one point behind the Tampa Bay Lightning and third in the Atlantic Division.

Your favorites haven’t finished in the top-3 of their section since 2017, does that give you an idea? Who would have said that Sainte-Flanelle would be in these boots on January 21, 2025?

We wouldn’t have bet our house on it, let’s say it!
