Arrest of former Energy Ministry manager for corruption

The Senegalese political world is shaken by the recent arrest of O. Diallo, former manager of the Ministry of Energy and Oil. This affair, revealed by the newspaper Sud Quotidien, is part of the first investigations carried out by the Financial Judicial Pool.

According to information published by our colleagues at Sud Quotidien, O. Diallo was placed under arrest warrant after an investigation carried out by the financial prosecutor’s office. The charges against him include fraud against public funds and money laundering. These offenses are particularly serious, undermining the integrity of the public service.

The former civil servant, also president of Darou Médine’s And Nawlé movement and political ally of the Benno coalition in Saint-Louis, is accused of having entered into corrupt agreements with suppliers, promising them contracts in exchange for money remittances. . The amount of these fraudulent transactions would reach around 200 million CFA francs, again according to information from Sud Quotidien.

Faced with pressure from suppliers, who demanded their dues after a change of regime, Diallo admitted his guilt. He allegedly proposed a repayment plan to try to avoid incarceration.

This case once again illustrates the determination of the authorities to fight corruption and clean up the management of public funds.
