The new American President Donald Trump, barely inaugurated, signed his first decrees on Monday in front of the crowd of his supporters in Washington. In particular, he initiated a new withdrawal of the United States from the Paris climate agreement.
The Republican billionaire, notoriously climate skeptic, kept his word by signing a presidential decree on the first day of his return to power and then a letter to the UN to this effect. This highly symbolic withdrawal should come into force in a year.
He also signed a decree ending teleworking for federal civil servants. The text ‘requires federal civil servants to return to work in the office full time with immediate effect,’ declared an official at the microphone, while Donald Trump brandished a document signed by his hand in a large room in the capital welcoming thousands of his supporters celebrating his return to power.
