Concrete has enormous CO2 storage potential, according to Empa

Scientists from the Federal Laboratory for Materials Testing and Research (Empa) attest to the enormous potential of concrete as a carbon reservoir. According to their study, 5 to 10 billion tonnes of carbon could be stored each year as aggregates in concrete.

This would be enough to sustainably store the excess CO2 currently present in the atmosphere within a hundred years, Empa said in a press release on Monday.
