In today’s edition, the daily Algerian Eveningknown to be close to official circles, openly outrages certain French political actors, including ministers, described as “Algerophobes”. The file, riddled with anti-Semitic allusions, points to a “sacred union” between influential figures and foreign lobbies perceived as hostile to Algerian interests.
Among the personalities mentioned are Éric Zemmour, Marine Le Pen, Bruno Retailleau and Gérald Darmanin, known for their realistic speeches regarding Algeria. According to the newspaper’s analysis, their positions are part of an ideological logic intended to exacerbate historical tensions and fuel confrontational rhetoric.
Furthermore, Bruno Retailleau pleaded, on Sunday December 19, for the end of the Franco-Algerian agreement of 1968 relating to the conditions of entry into France for Algerian nationals, in a context of great tensions between the two countries. The minister repeated that France had been “humiliated» by Algeria when this country refused entry into its territory to an Algerian influencer expelled from France. “Algeria did not respect international law» by refusing access to its territory to this influencer who had “a biometric passport» certifying his nationality.
-The minister also mentioned the fate of the Franco-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal, imprisoned in Algeria. “France must choose ways to respond to Algeria», continued Mr. Retailleau. “We have gone all the way (…) I am in favor of strong measures because without a balance of power, we will not succeed».
In this regard, he hoped that the 1968 agreement would be called into question. “This agreement is dated and has distorted Algerian immigration. It has no reason to be. We have to put it back on the table“, he judged. Mr. Retailleau also argued that “France did everything it could on the path to reconciliation and in return, we only received gestures of aggression». «French pride was hurt by the offense Algeria gave to France“, he said again.
