The Union of the Comoros celebrates the 5th anniversary of its Consulate in Laâyoune

The Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros in Laâyoune organized a ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the opening of this diplomatic representation, the first in the capital of the Moroccan Sahara.

Placed under the sign “Five years of diplomacy, contact and proximity of the Consulate General of the Union of the Comoros to the Moroccan Sahara”, this celebration was an opportunity to highlight the diplomatic, scientific and economic relations between Morocco and the Union of the Comoros, which opened a Consulate General in December 2019 in the capital of the southern provinces of the Kingdom.

In a speech for the occasion, the Consul General of the Union of the Comoros in Laâyoune, Said Omar Said Hassane, recalled the constant position of his country in favor of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the Moroccan character of the Sahara.

Mr. Said Hassane, who is also the dean of the consular corps in Laâyoune, emphasized the dynamic of opening diplomatic representations in Laâyoune and Dakhla, noting that the Moroccan Sahara is thus becoming a strategic place of meeting and communication. dialogue between diverse cultures and nations.

He also indicated that the Consulate General of his country has opted for local diplomacy in order to make this bilateral cooperation operational and tangible, noting that this 5th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate this historic event and explore new avenues of cooperation. cooperation for the future.

Furthermore, the diplomat indicated that university and professional training establishments in the southern provinces welcome several students from the Union of Comoros and other African countries, noting that they are considered future ambassadors of Morocco in the continent.

On this occasion, the Consul General of the Union of the Comoros in Laâyoune, the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laâyoune, Abdeslam Bekrate, and the president of the commune of Laâyoune, Moulay Hamdi Ould Errachid , visited a photographic exhibition highlighting the rich Comorian cultural heritage.

A rich program has been concocted for this celebration including a conference on the development, entrepreneurship and employability of young people and women in the southern provinces, visits to businesses and cooperatives, intellectual and cultural exchanges and artistic performances. , in addition to organizing an exhibition of art objects.
