Between 2011 and 2020, Gisèle was drugged by her husband who delivered her to strangers at their home. Dominique P. and 50 men are being tried from this Monday, September 2, and for four months, by the Vaucluse departmental criminal court.
In this vast room of the Avignon courthouse, specially set up for this extraordinary trial, Gisèle will face 50 strangers. However, 50 of these men, tried from this Monday, September 2 by the Vaucluse departmental criminal court, made her suffer the worst: they raped her at home. Gisèle remembers nothing, she had previously been drugged by her husband, the father of her three children.
“Unbeknownst to him”: this is the name of the file found by investigators on the computer of Dominique P., Gisèle’s husband, in September 2020. The 67-year-old man at the time was caught in a shopping center in Carpentras filming under women’s skirts. Analysis of his phones and then his laptop revealed conversations with other men.
On Skype, but especially on the controversial discussion site Coco – and closed in June 2024 by the authorities – using, without precaution, his personal email address. The retiree, settled since 2013 with his wife in Mazan, in Vaucluse, exchanges with other men and suggests that they have sexual relations with his wife.
The patriarch of this family is described as strict. The “super guy” as his wife called him before the affair. He is certainly a bit of an exhibitionist, was surprised by a daughter-in-law masturbating in his office or allows himself remarks with sexual connotations, but no one imagines the other side of the former salesman. That of the man ready to do anything to satisfy his fantasies, described by one of his co-accused as “a very rare specimen of sexual perversity”.
High dose chemical submission
From the 400 or so pages of the indictment order of the 51 men who are being tried, a mountain of atrocities suffered by Gisèle emerges. The first photo found by the police showing her unconscious and drugged dates from July 24, 2011. Dominique P. admitted to the investigating judge that at the time he was using sleeping pills to have sexual practices that his wife refused him to have. He would like to practice swinging, but Gisèle, whom he married in 1973, refuses.
He exchanges a lot with other men on the discussion forum and the chemical submission he makes his wife undergo becomes professional. An Internet user recommends Temesta, a powerful anxiolytic. In 2015, a doctor prescribes it to Gisèle to treat her anxiety. Her husband takes advantage of it, he gives her some in her evening meal “without her knowing”, the name of the forum he creates on Coco where he “recruits” the men who will participate in satisfying his fantasies.
Dominique P.’s psychiatric assessment will not reveal any mental illness, but paraphilic deviations, namely sexual practices that differ from acts traditionally considered normal. Deviations that can be linked to a sexual assault that he says he suffered at the age of nine, but whose veracity his relatives doubt. In addition to voyeurism, fetishism, and sadism, there is somnophilia. The chemical submission imposed on his wife, rendered inert and unconscious by taking medication, could reinforce the feeling of control he exerts over her.
In four years, Dominique P. has been prescribed 20 prescriptions for Lorazepam, another anxiolytic, or 780 tablets. Enough to administer one every two days to this woman reduced to the status of an object, and who will be exposed to all the risks. In high doses, the ingestion of these drugs can be fatal. For several years, Gisèle has suffered from absences, memory lapses. Her relatives fear the onset of Alzheimer’s. She gets into the car in a trance. When she is examined by an expert as part of the procedure, she is a carrier of four sexually transmitted diseases.
50 suspects identified
During these years, Gisèle suspects nothing. In 2011, Dominique P. was already convicted of filming up women’s skirts in a supermarket in the Paris region. He was fined, and did not tell anyone about it. It was that same year that the first abuses took place in Villiers-sur-Marne, in the Paris region, before the couple moved to Vaucluse. But also on the Île de Ré in a family home or in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse at their daughter’s. The thousands of exchanges on the Coco découvertes website lift the veil on a sordid truth. “You’re like me, you like rape mode,” one of these men says to Dominique P. on the forum “A son insu”.
Appointments are set on this same forum. Men are invited to come and have sex with Gisèle and are given instructions: do not park in front of the house, no perfume, no tobacco. They must undress before entering the room, warm their hands so as not to risk Gisèle waking up. On one of the videos, we hear her say to the man present: “If she ever moves, you leave, you wait behind the door!”
All these precautions undermine the defense of some of the 50 men who will be tried, claiming not to have known that the woman with whom they were having relations was drugged. Some speak of “couple delirium”. Dominique P., present in the room, naked, films the rapes suffered by his wife, the rapes that they orchestrate himself. On the videos, we hear him, directive, giving instructions. We see him imposing penetrations or fellatio on his wife. Some will participate in several meetings, the pace of meetings accelerating with the Covid crisis.
“Conductor”
The “ABUSE” file discovered on his computer contains 128 sub-folders. The names of these files are explicit: “ABUSE/ charly afternoon of 130520 4th time”, “night of 14 January 2018 with Nicolas”, “marc sodo 5th time”, “night of 03102020 with Gaston”. On this last date, Dominique P. had already been arrested for the Carpentras shopping centre affair. In total, over a period of ten years, 92 rapes were recorded by investigators who were looking for 72 attackers. 50 were identified. They were between 20 and 68 years old at the time of the events, some were the same age as the victim’s children.
“These are profiles of people who are searching for themselves (…) who have fallen into a particular relationship with the husband who led them to commit these acts”, summarizes to RMC Me Christophe Huguenin-Vichaux, lawyer of one of the accused, highlighting the role of “conductor” of the husband in the commission of these rapes, leaving no choice to the men he brought in.
During this already sprawling investigation, investigators also made the connection between Dominique P. and two previously unsolved cases. He was indicted for an attempted rape, committed in 1999 in Seine-et-Marne. Facts to which he partially admitted. An investigating judge from the “cold case” unit also indicted him for a murder accompanied by a rape, committed in 1991 in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Facts that he denies.
Around Gisèle, her daughter Caroline and her two sons will be present in this courtroom. Dominique P. is also being prosecuted for having photographed his daughter asleep and in lingerie and for having photographed his two stepdaughters when they were taking a shower in the bathroom of his house in Mazan. A family broken after the discovery of the dark side of their father and who came closer as the trial approached. “They decided to stand together” during these four months of trial, sighs a person close to the case.
