60% of buildings are damaged or destroyed in the Palestinian enclave

CARDS – 172,000 of the 287,000 buildings in the Gaza Strip were damaged or destroyed, according to two American researchers.

Fifteen months after October 7, 2023 and the unprecedented terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel – 1,210 dead and 7,500 injured – then the IDF response in the Gaza Strip, the security cabinet of the Hebrew State approved the agreement this Friday negotiated by Qatar and the United States on a truce which also provides for the release of Israeli hostages still held by the Islamist movement. The conflict, which left 46,876 dead, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, also caused considerable destruction in the Palestinian enclave. According to an analysis delivered by two American academics and finalized as of January 15, at least 172,000 buildings have been damaged or destroyed throughout the Gaza Strip, or nearly three buildings out of five (59.8%).
