Stade Brestois will face Troyes and EA Guingamp will play in Toulouse for these round of 16 matches which will be played on Tuesday February 4 and Wednesday February 5.

It’s another big piece for Stade Briochin. OGC Nice, the Ligue 1 professionals, will be Saint-Brieuc’s next opponent. The club which plays in N2 was the very first to be drawn, this Thursday evening during the draw for these 8th finals of the Coupe de France.
The players of Guillaume Allénou, coach and president of Stade Briochin, will receive, it was their priority. When the opponent’s name appeared, a “Yeah” general and enthusiastic echoed in the room. After beating Le Havre (Ligue 1 resident), then Annecy (Ligue 2) in the round of 16 this Wednesday, the amateur footballers will face the current 4th in Ligue 1.
Players, staff and a few supporters, there were around thirty gathered in the foyer of the Costa Rican club this Thursday evening, and between them, before the draw, opinions differed. Most absolutely wanted to receive. But who?
“A step too big”to move into 1/4, some hope…“A big one” prefer others. Except that if it is “very big” it will be complicated to host Fred Aubert, the stadium where they have already achieved great feats. The Brestois, who continue to shine in the Champions League, will play against Troyes, a Ligue 2 team, for these 8th finals of the Coupe de France.
En Avant Guingamp (currently 7th in Ligue 21) will face Toulouse, a team currently 8th in the Ligue 1 standings, at the very beginning of February.
The French Football Federation (FFF) carried out the draw this Thursday evening for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. Three Breton teams are still in the running at this stage of the competition: the Brest Stadium (who dominated FC Nantes 2 goals to 1 in the round of 16), theForward Guingamp who beat FC Sochaux-Montbelliard on penalties 2-2 then 9-8 on the tab), and the Briochin Stadium winner of Annecy 1-1 (4-3, tab).

Yesterday evening, Wednesday January 15, 2025, Saint-Brieuc, which plays in National 2, therefore created a surprise against Annecy (resident of Ligue 2), like three other French clubs which were on paper less well placed than their opponents: Cannes , Troyes and Bourgoin-Jallieu also created the feat by taking out Lorient, Rennes, Annecy and Olympique Lyonnais respectively.
How far will these “outsiders” go in the 2025 Coupe de France? The little thumbs dream of beating the odds, while the big favorites are keen to uphold logic.
The Coupe de France, a competition won again last season by Paris Saint-Germain (they have won it 15 times in total) but which EA Guingamp also knows very well…

The Guingampais have already won this competition twice: in 2009 and 2014. Finalist in 1997, and semi-finalist three times, they dream of confirming that “never two without three”. Is it for this year?… The future will tell us.
In the meantime, the Coupe de France offers nice surprises every year, little thumbs happy to play against the pros, lots of emotions and nice little words like the one sent a few hours before the draw by Stade Briochin to its opponent in the 16th round. :
“Guillaume Allanou and the entire Stade Briochin would like to thank the FC Annecy and its leaders who chose to leave us the share of the revenue that was due to them last night! We wish the Reds a very good second half of the season in Ligue 2.”
Nothing forced the Reds to do this. The gesture helps support amateur football, which is never against a financial boost, in addition to the spotlight.
