His team may have lost again, but Ivan Demidov once again found a way to shine.
In a 7-4 loss for the St. Petersburg SKA against Cherepovets Severstal, a third in a row, the Montreal Canadian prospect concluded the game with a goal and two more assists to his record.
Demidov first scored a goal by tucking the puck under the opposing goalie’s pad after a nice breakthrough in the slot, thus creating a 1-1 tie in the first period.
Demidov then did his part in his team’s attempt to come back in the third period. While SKA trailed 6-2, Demidov showed great determination along the ramp at the entrance to the zone which eventually set the table for a goal from teammate Sergei Plotnikov.
Then, with a little more than five minutes left in the final period, Demidov grabbed a loose puck after a faceoff and immediately passed it to Valentin Zykov in front of the net for his team’s fourth and final goal, which then removed their goalkeeper from the semi-circle in favor of a sixth attacker.
-Demidov, who scored a goal in his second straight game, got 22:05 minutes of playing time and finished the game with five shots on net.
In 44 games this season, Demidov has now collected 15 goals and 20 assists.
