Case of meningitis in Kara

Cases of meningitis have been reported in the Kara region, more precisely in the Dankpen district. The alert was given by Tchin Darré, Minister of Health.

Investigations are currently underway to detect possible new cases in the community to allow rapid and effective treatment. This approach aims to limit the spread of the disease.

Faced with this worrying situation, several measures were quickly put in place by the health authorities:

  • Raising awareness among the population on preventive measures and the importance of consulting quickly in the event of suspicious symptoms.
  • Free medical care for all cases detected in health structures in the region.
  • Strengthening early detection through active search campaigns for suspected cases within communities and confirmation of diagnoses through laboratory analyses.

Meningitis is a serious and contagious disease that requires special attention. The main symptoms to watch out for are: sudden high fever, severe headache, vomiting, neck stiffness.

The Ministry of Health invites the population, in particular the inhabitants of the Kara region, to be vigilant and to immediately go to the nearest health centers in the event of the appearance of these symptoms.
