This Wednesday, Sébastien Simon is sailing reaching at high speed in a south-easterly wind on the northern part of the Bay of Biscay. As he gets closer to the Breton tip, he sees the wind refusing as it orients itself to the east-southeast; which makes it slow down significantly with a significant detour on the road which takes it towards Les Sables d'Olonne.

Jérémie Beyou and Boris Hermann are in a strong northeast trade wind, close to 20 knots, which makes them progress on port tack at 13-14 knots towards the north-northwest. The objective is to maintain this rhythm for as long as possible with the best trajectory to find downwind winds further north.

This Thursday, Sébastien Simon will have changed tack off Pointe du Raz to go back down on the port tack in an easterly flow of around ten knots. He will still not be able to make a direct route to Les Sables d'Olonne and will have to make a final tack in the evening, at the latitude of the Île de Ré before a final straight towards the finish line.

Jérémie Beyou and Boris Hermann will continue to head north in a trade wind that becomes significantly more irregular. They will therefore no longer be able to progress as quickly as the day before and will begin to slightly curve their trajectory towards the east to take a route closer to the great circle.

Sébastien Simon is expected in the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday at the finish line off Les Sables d'Olonne, in a south-east wind close to 15 knots. Jérémie Beyou will continue to progress in an irregular trade wind of fifteen knots. He will have to find the best trajectory to anticipate the passage of a ridge at the latitude of the Canary Islands before finding downwind winds, ahead of a vast low pressure system over the North Atlantic. Boris Hermann located further south, will see the trade wind strengthen to between 15 and 20 knots. It will accelerate by putting a little to the right in its route with a heading due north.Cyrille Duchesne, meteorologist expert La Chaîne Météo / METEO CONSULT
