Lifting of parliamentary immunity of MP Farba Ngom: Amadou Ba

The parliamentary immunity of MP Farba Ngom will be lifted by the National Assembly. After the meeting of office members this Tuesday, an ad hoc committee will be set up next Friday. Parliamentarian Amadou Ba de Pastef gave some details on this procedure.

“On Thursday, January 16, the ad hoc committee will be formed and its 11 members will be appointed (nine Pastef deputies, one from Takku Wallu and one from the non-registered group). Friday at 11 a.m., convening of the plenary charged solely, by a resolution, with ratifying the designation of the 11 members of the ad hoc commission.

It is only after the said commission will decide on its timetable and examine the request for lifting of the parliamentary immunity of MP Farba Ngom that it can hear him directly or the MP he has designated to represent him and examine and assess the charges against him.

Once the ad hoc committee completes its investigation, the conclusions of its work will be resubmitted to the plenary to rule definitively on the lifting of Farba Ngom’s parliamentary immunity.

Therefore, on Friday January 17, the plenary will not rule on the lifting of Farba Ngom’s parliamentary immunity, but will vote on the ratification of the members of the ad hoc committee. No fast track to execute any political order.”
