While the white plan has been in force since Friday January 10, on the Ruthenian establishment side, we hope to have passed the brunt of the epidemic.
With a hospitalization rate “exceptionally high” according to Public Health France, the seasonal flu epidemic is in full swing. And Aveyron is no exception to this rule. To the point that, like around a hundred establishments in the country, the Jacques-Puel hospital center triggered the white plan on Friday January 10.
An emergency measure which sets the broad guidelines for crisis management and allows, in particular, establishments to recall staff from leave. But according to hospital management, “everything is under control. The situation has clearly improved since the end of the weekend”we know. As such, only level 1 of this famous white plan has been activated and is still in force as a precautionary principle. The number of emergency room admissions increased sharply, subsequently impacting all of the establishment's services.
A special unit set up
Thus, a 12-bed emergency downstream unit (UAU) has been set up in recent days, “in order to face this crisis”specifies the hospital. This is a short-term hospitalization unit, caring for patients coming from emergency departments only.
“We must salute the unfailing commitment of the teams who have been mobilized in recent days, and particularly this weekend”adds management. Some of them were specifically recalled in this tense context. “We had enough beds”wishes in any case to reassure the establishment, which hopes to return to normal operation as quickly as possible.
“The most glaring concern is the lack of medical presence”
As for the health and social branch of the CFDT, we also note that “the situation has remained under control”, particularly through the regulation of access to emergencies. However, this cannot hide certain difficulties.
“The current situation, as in any establishment, is worrying. The triggering of the white plan reflects extreme tension in a winter context aggravated by the flu. The lack of doctors and specialists, the saturation of emergencies are putting hospital teams under pressure” , notes the union. In this respect, the installation of the UAU, installed in place of the hepato-gastroenterology department due to a lack of staff in this unit, is notably cited in spite of itself.
