Sven Nys on the coronation of his son Thibau: “If he can compete with my nine titles? He started earlier than me”

Eleven years after Sven Nys’ tenth and final victory in the plowed races, another Nys has entered the pantheon of Belgian cyclo-cross champions.

But the road is still long for Thibau because even if he has, at only 22 years old, a European champion title in addition to his recent national coronation, he is missing eight titles to hope to at least equal his dad.

At the microphone of VTM, Sven Nys returned to his son’s victory, while being questioned about Thibau’s career objectives. “Nine songs is a serious record“, says Sven. “Perhaps his career will also develop differently. You also have to have a little luck. But he definitely started earlier than me“.
