How exhilarating it is on the path of the lost. How heroic he is when an ironic eagle takes a dislike to him. Thierry Romanens has legendary surveyor stilts. At the Théâtre du Grütli in Geneva, before Bulle and La Chaux-de-Fonds, the French-speaking actor unfolds an American saga, Chapters of the Fall – Lehman Brothers Saga (L’Arche Editeur), phenomenal text by the Italian writer Stefano Massini. He uses the nerve, the hair and the marrow, superbly epic, and it was not self-evident.

Because this play is a rodeo, he admits on the eve of the premiere, in the Grütli foyer. How can we tame these two hours of great maneuvers and kicks, the story of Henry, Emanuel and Mayer Lehman, these Bavarian Jewish emigrants who landed in Alabama in 1844, convinced that this would be their promised land? How can we slide down the slope of time, to this stop in 2008 when the Lehman Brothers bank fell like an anemic Leviathan, dragging down all the stock markets on the planet with its collapse?
