Two priests from the pastoral area of Loudéac, in Côtes-d’Armor, were suspended from their function, after two women denounced their behavior towards them.
As Mgr Denis Moutel, Bishop of Saint-Brieuc and Tréguier explains in a press release dated this Saturday, January 11, “two adult women came forward to the Church to complain about their behavior” before Christmas.
The bishop then contacted the public prosecutor and an investigation was opened. He also indicates that one of them filed a complaint with the police.
“We must let justice take its course”
“So that the investigation can proceed peacefully, and while awaiting its conclusions, I asked the two priests involved to step back from their mission,” explains the bishop.
The latter “wants to assure these two women of (his) support, (his) availability and (his) prayer” and “wishes that justice can carry out its work calmly”.
“We must let justice take its course, that is the first part, the second part is that the Christian community must remain united in these difficult times for everyone,” declared Bruno Le Bescaut, mayor of Loudéac, quoted by news.
