The prefect of Mayotte, François Xavier Bieuville issued a red cyclone alert at 10 p.m. Mayotte, far from having recovered from Cyclone Chido, is threatened by Cyclone Dikeledi which is currently located 510 km east of the island.

The announcement of Cyclone Dikeledi comes less than a month after the passage of Cyclone Chido which devastated Mayotte, the poorest department in France and left at least 39 dead and more than 5,600 injured.
