Disqualified Tuesday evening by the FIA commissioners, Sébastien Loeb promised to return next year to try to finally win the premier rally-raid event.
9 participations, 5 podiums and three retirements. Sébastien Loeb’s assessment of the Dakar remains positive. But the nine-time WRC world rally champion has never won the event. And this is undoubtedly the reason why he will be present in 2026. This will be his 10th participation and he will always be behind the wheel of a Dacia, as he confirmed in an interview with our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré :
“I’m not discouraged, I’m still in a fun mood. We are committed to Dacia to make two complete world championships and two Dakars. It’s a great project.”
Supporter of Nasser Al-Attiyah
From now on, Sébastien Loeb will watch the Dakar from his home while listening to his former co-driver deliver his analyses. Above all, he will be the number 1 supporter of his teammate Nasser Al-Attiyah, five-time winner of the event:
“Nasser Al-Attiyah is still in the match for victory. I remind you that the car is newso still perfectible. We knew that reliability on certain elements would not be optimal. The problems were eventually resolved. I dare to imagine that in the future, we will no longer talk about fans messing up.”

He still believed in victory
Before leaving this Dakar 2025, Sébastien Loeb still believed in victory despite his delay behind the race lead (more than 1h15). Disappointment therefore dominates:
“I came to win. I’m leaving a week before my friends. It is all the more frustrating thatwe were in the rhythm to do something good. And that even with my hour and a quarter delay, it was not dead”.
