She already announced it in our columns ahead of her visit to Dijon: Rachida Dati, present this Thursday in the city of dukes to discuss the evolution of the Cathedral Plan, announced that the spire of Saint-Bénigne cathedral was going to make the subject to a complete restoration, “130 years after its construction”. “This architectural masterpiece of the 19th century, this other great century of cathedrals, rises to 93 meters. The spire is the tallest wooden frame in France, after that of Notre-Dame de Paris. Above all, it is a true symbol of Dijon. »
The project is expected to last between five and six years at a cost of 22 million euros. “The removal of the arrow will begin in 2026, an exceptional operation, which will mobilize rare and precious know-how,” said the Minister of Culture in her speech.
“I want to insist on this and Notre-Dame de Paris showed it to us again recently: the sum of professional, scientific and technical skills that are deployed is French know-how of incredible strength, which is indeed envied throughout the world. These projects are not limited to heritage preservation. They also contribute to the cultural and tourist influence of our territories, to their attractiveness. They create qualified jobs and reinforce the sense of pride of residents. Because restoring our cathedrals means restoring our history, our common roots, but it also means working for our future. »
-Rachida Dati must continue her visit to Dole, in order to meet those responsible for the national Scènes du Jura scene.
