The Canadian hockey team defeated the Straubing Tigers 6-3 at the Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, confirming its place in the final four after two victories in the preliminary round.
Quebecer Charles Hudon had two assists on Saturday, while Madison Bowey scored the winning goal just 48 seconds into the third period. He also added an assist.
Logan Shaw, author of a double, Daniel Carr, Noel Hoefenmayer and Jonathan Hazen also found the back of the net for the Canadian team.
It was good to win. We have to avoid the penalty box, but we stuck together and, overall, we did our job
Shaw said.
We will just have to do the same in the semi-finals. Play simple North American style, block shots and pay the price to win. If we continue on this path, we will do well.
Quebecers Thomas Grégoire and Philippe Maillet each collected an assist.
Colton Ellis made 17 saves to sign his second victory of the tournament.
The maple leaf selection had mastered HC Davos in the opening of the Spengler Cup the day after Christmas. She won 6-2 against the hosts and reigning champions of the competition.
In the final four, Monday, the Canadian team will face HC Dynamo or the Tigers.
