Snowstorm in Italy: Cristian and Luca have been stuck in the “valley of hell” for several days

Luca and Cristian, two mountaineering friends, have disappeared since this Sunday on the Gran Sasso at an altitude of 2,700 meters. The biggest problem: the weather conditions do not allow us to go looking for them.

Cristian Gualdi, 48, and Luca Perazzini, 42, were trapped on the Gran Sasso (mountain range in central Italy) after slipping in the Vallone dell'Inferno (Editor's note: the valley of hell).

The two friends, mountaineering specialists, left on Saturday December 21 and raised the alarm on Sunday the 22nd. Since then, the emergency services have been trying to help them, but the weather conditions are very complicated in the area. A snowstorm even forced emergency services to suspend searches until further notice, according to transalpine media.

The two men were separated by around twenty meters when they fell, but were able to communicate with each other. One of them was able to contact the emergency number, however, he had difficulty speaking, according to the operator.

The families are now in the region concerned, Abruzzo. Psychologists intervened to help them in these stressful moments. All of Italy holds its breath.
