She also underlined her commitment to the consecration of the dimension of human rights in the police function. In order to consolidate the mechanisms for combating cybercrime and cyberterrorism, DGSN experts developed the “E-Blagh” interactive platform in 2024, which was put into service on June 3. This platform aims to involve citizens in the prevention and reporting of criminal threats and terrorist risks on the Internet.
The year 2024 was also marked by the implementation of numerous institutional partnerships aimed at perfecting criminal investigation techniques and adapting them to the human rights system.
This is in fact the framework partnership agreement signed with the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) which concerns the training of civil servants responsible for law enforcement in places of placement and custody. on sight. Likewise, a joint plan was established to consolidate the continuing training of judicial police officers, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Command of the Royal Gendarmerie.
This year was also that of the implementation of recommendations relating to respect for human rights in security action, with the organization of a total of 3,537 training sessions and the dissemination of 710 memoranda for enable police officers to adopt the culture of human rights and highlight best practices in law enforcement. As part of the strengthening of crime-fighting structures, the anti-gang brigades (BAG) have been multiplied to currently reach 26 specialized brigades distributed throughout the national territory.
These units were equipped with alternative weapons, including the “TASER-7” electric pulse gun, 104 all-terrain vehicles, 720 motorcycles of various cylinders and uniforms suitable for all types of intervention. They were also equipped with 60 canines specialized in the detection of explosives, weapons, narcotics, bank notes and in the discovery of corpses.
Regarding the figures relating to the fight against crime, a total of 755,541 cases were recorded, a slight increase compared to the 738,748 cases recorded in 2023. On the other hand, violent crimes directly affecting the feeling of security of citizens accused a significant drop of 10%.
Thus, cases of aggravated theft fell by 24%, vehicle thefts by 20%, violent thefts by 12%, and break-ins by 10%. Likewise, sexual assaults fell by 4%, drug-related cases by 7%, and thefts targeting bank branches by 45%.
At the same time, the rate of elucidation of crimes reached a record level of 95%, confirming the continuous progress recorded over the last eight years. Qualitative analysis shows that violent crimes remained at their minimum level of 7% of registered criminal cases, or 49,838 cases, which led to the arrest of 29,959 people, including 10,720 wanted persons.
In addition, police services dismantled 947 criminal gangs involved in robberies, which led to the arrest of 1,561 individuals presumed to be involved in these acts. Likewise, 119 vehicles and 75 motorcycles used in these criminal activities were seized.
As for narcotics, a drop of 7% was recorded with 92,346 cases processed and 119,692 individuals arrested, including 287 foreign nationals. The seizures included in particular 123 tonnes and 971 kg of cannabis resin, 1,948 tonnes of cocaine, 16.53 kg of heroin, and 1,429,052 psychotropic tablets, including 773,493 ecstasy tablets.
Two attempts to traffic drugs based on narcotic substances were also thwarted, with the seizure of 704,000 bottles containing illicit substances, coming from Asia and destined for sub-Saharan Africa.
Finally, a notable reduction of 47% in cases linked to the drug known as “l'pouffa” and of 52% of the people involved was recorded, although the quantities seized increased by 58%, thanks to the strengthening of border controls. A total of 8.331 kg of the drug “l’pouffa” was seized in 2024.
